The Saturdays’ new video for Disco Love premiered on their official VEVO. The video is set in three decades – the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

The video starts off with The Saturdays trying to fix their broken down camper van in 1979 before former S Club Junior Aaron Renfree and his friends come along to help. The Saturdays’ cover of Donna Summer’s On The Radio is playing before Frankie changes the radio station to Disco Love. The next scene is The Saturdays at a roller disco in 1989, followed by 1999 for the final scene.

Check out the video below:

Disco Love is out on October 6th.

Katy Perry: “Dark Horse” or “Walking On Air”?

Katy Perry has teamed up with MTV and Pepsi to ask fans to vote between two songs called Walking On Air and Dark Horse to be released before her new album Prism drops. At the moment Dark Horse is winning but I’m hoping Walking On Air catches up because I think it’s the better of the two.

Walking On Air is very 90’s dance with care-free, cool vocals from Katy. The falsetto during the chorus line “I’m walking on air” is such a strong hook that it’s stuck on repeat in my head. While some have called the song faceless, I think it’s typical Katy with hints of Hummingbird Heartbeat emerging from the melody. Take a listen to Walking On Air below:

Dark Horse is a ballad and the preview is building up to what sounds like the track dropping out before a breakdown. However, for me, the song feels ruined by the ridiculous Dr. Luke Ooh La La vocoder used just before the breakdown. It’s completely unnecessary and ruins a potentially great song. Take a listen to Dark Horse below:

Vote for your favourite track to be released early on the MTV website. Prism is out on October 22nd.

Miley Cyrus – “Wrecking Ball” New Album Track

tumblr_ms2k02Fw7s1saom5so2_1280Miley Cyrus has released a new track called Wrecking Ball from her upcoming album Bangers as part of the iTunes pre-order. Wrecking Ball definitely isn’t a “banger” but it’s a great song and completely different from the lead single We Can’t Stop.

Wrecking Ball is a ballad with a big rock chorus and definitely a contender for a single at some point. It sounds like a more current When I Look At You mixed with Firebomb by Rihanna and lyrically verging on Jordin Sparks’ Battlefield. The verses are much stronger than the chorus because they’re more original.

Bangers is out on October 7th.
