Jessie J has uploaded a preview of the acoustic version of her new song Wild. From the 1 minute clip it sounds pretty good. The chorus is really strong and with a full production radio will eat it up.

Hopefully the studio version with Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal won’t ruin what sounds like potentially a big hit for Jessie.

Wild is the first single from Jessie’s upcoming second studio album.

Britney Spears – “Ooh La La” New Single

smurf-art-britney-spears-oohlalaBritney Spears’ new single Ooh La La for The Smurfs 2 soundtrack has made its way onto the internet. The song is written by Dr. Luke and Bonnie McKee. The production is typical Dr. Luke repeating himself as it sounds like something that would’ve been on Ke$ha’s album. It also contains some of Bonnie’s vocals layered with Britney’s.

There’s not much to the song but it’s nice to listen to. The chorus has a strong melody which reminds me a bit of Madonna’s Superstar from the way the “ooh la la” parts are sung.

Listen to Ooh La La below:

Edit: Britney confirmed via Twitter that this is only the demo:

@britneyspears: I heard an early demo of #OohLaLa smurfed its way onto the internet today :( The real version will be at radio and iTunes June 16th :)

Edit: This “early demo” turned out to be identical to the final version.

Carly Rae Jepsen – “Take A Picture” New Single

tapCarly Rae Jepsen performed her new single Take A Picture on American Idol last night. The lyrics of the song were voted for by fans as part of Coca-Cola’s Perfect Harmony campaign.

Take A Picture is being released during the campaign for Tonight I’m Getting Over You but it isn’t really an issue since the latter is struggling to make an impact. Take A Picture is a very light-hearted, electro pop song with not much to it except the chorus is quite catchy. The “tonight” ad-libs towards the end remind me of Enrique Iglesias’ Escape.

For something voted by fans, the lyrics aren’t as bad as they could’ve been. However, I can’t see this single fairing well if even the amazing Tonight I’m Getting Over You is barely doing anything.

Take A Picture is the first single from Carly’s upcoming third studio album.

The Saturdays – “Gentleman” New Single

gentlemanThe Saturdays’ second single, Gentleman, from their upcoming 5th studio album was sent to radio today. Gentleman shows a change in direction for The Saturdays. They’ve moved away from the dance-pop sound to a more r’n’b sound with the Priscilla Renea penned Gentleman.

Gentleman is all about the lyrics and the way the girls perform them. Not only are the lyrics hilarious and random, but they’re also a lot raunchier than the average Saturdays song. Lines like “you’re not a lady if you’re always on your knees”, “they wonder why most girls just spit it” and “I let you taste my rainbow” are probably the raunchiest but it’s lines like “he’s already got the milk so why would he go buy the cow” that make the song funny to listen to. Gentleman is probably the most Girls Aloud sounding song The Saturdays have released, rivalling songs such as The Show and Biology with its tongue-in-cheek and random lyrics.

The song’s only flaw is the name-dropping rap towards the end, but it still manages to be quite entertaining regardless.

At this point in their career, it’s about time The Saturdays changed things up a bit and it’s very daring of them not to go the safe route and release What About Us 2.0. Hopefully Gentleman can achieve the same success as What About Us.

Gentleman will be released on June 30th through Polydor Records.

Diana Vickers – “Cinderella” New Single

cinderellaDiana Vickers has signed a new record deal with So Recordings. The first single to be lifted from her long-awaited second album is called Cinderella. The album, Music To Make Boys Cry, will finally be released later this year.

Cinderella is co-penned with Xenomania’s Miranda Cooper. On first listen, the chorus reminded me of the Tony Lamezma remix of Girls Aloud’s Call The Shots. It’s no surprise that they both sound similar due to Miranda’s involvement in both.

Although Cinderella is not as instant as the free downloads Music To Make Boys Cry or Boy In Paris, it’s still very catchy and after a few listens it clicks. Diana’s diction is much easier to understand than most of the songs on her debut album, possibly due to the polished production. Her upcoming album is shaping up to be quite a stunning follow up to 2010’s Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree.

Cinderella will be released on July 19th.
