OneRepublic are finally releasing second single, Secrets, from their sophomore album, Waking Up, worldwide. Secrets was originally released last year as the lead single from the album in Germany, to coincide with the release of Zweiohrküken, a German movie which features Secrets on its original sound track. The worldwide release of the single has since been delayed a number of times.

The original music video, showed clips from the movie in between scenes of OneRepublic performing the song. The 2010 worldwide treatment of the video, keeps the original performance scenes but adds scenes of lead vocalist Ryan Tedder at a restaurant, sitting behind a girl who was seemingly stood-up. Other new scenes show Ryan encounter the girl in the street without any recognition of her. When the girl revisits the restaurant, she sees the person who stood her up while Ryan sings the lyrics of Secrets in her ear.

Secrets has no tentative release date worldwide but will be added to US radio on June 1st.

Ke$ha – “Your Love Is My Drug” Video Premiere

Ke$ha’s video for Your Love Is My Drug, the third single from her debut album Animal, premiered today. As a single, Your Love Is My Drug was a smart choice since it’s very similar to her debut TiK ToK, and it’s a sure fire hit for the summer. The video isn’t a typical Ke$ha video since she’s not drunk and she actually looks clean for once.

Your Love Is My Drug is set in the desert in which Ke$ha’s walks around singing, becomes a tiger, rides an elephant and tries to sail a boat on the sand before the video turns into a cartoon, presumably symbolising that her love for her boyfriend in the video is like a drug hallucination.

For the middle-eight of the song, the video shows Ke$ha in the dark with UV paint all over her body similar to her performance of Your Love Is My Drug on Saturday Night Live. The use of UV paint seems to be done quite a lot lately and can be seen in recent videos such as Alphabeat’s DJ, Black Eyed Peas’ I Gotta Feeling and more.

The talking part at the end of the song, which could have been a disaster in the video, was carried out surprisingly well. While the video is decent overall, it could have been better had the cartoon scenes been omitted.

Your Love Is My Drug is released June 6th through RCA Records.

Alphabeat – “DJ” Video

The video for Alphabeat’s third single DJ, now extended to DJ (I Could Be Dancing), from their sophomore album The Beat Is… premiered this week. It’s one of Alphabeat’s better videos and hopefully with the newly mixed version of the track, it will give Alphabeat a deserved hit from this record.

The members of Alphabeat are stood on spinning vinyl for most of the video, keeping the retro image the band have similar to the cassette tapes used in their video for Boyfriend. The Hawaiian scenes on the spinning vinyl makes it look like Fascination want to push DJ to become a summer hit. For quite a cheap video, it’s very eye-grabbing with the colours and the UV scenes are really well done but not overused.

DJ is released through Fascination Records on May 31st.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor – “Bittersweet” Video Premiere

The video for Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s lead single Bittersweet from her forthcoming album Straight To The Heart premiered. It’s a very simple video with trampolines, wind machines and dancers. There’s no plot but it definitely suits the song and looks really artistic for what could have been a cheap looking video.

It would have been better if the Freemasons‘ remix was used for the radio edit but the radio edit is still quite good. It’s a strong single to lead the album with and if the rest of the album is up to this standard, we’re in for quite a good album campaign.

Bittersweet will be released on May 3rd through Fascination Records.

Lady GaGa & Beyoncé – “Telephone” Video Premiere

The video for Lady GaGa’s second single from The Fame Monster, Telephone featuring Beyoncé, premiered last night. It’s over 9 minutes long and features a lot of dialog and cutting up of the song.

The storyline is quite simple, starting with Lady GaGa in a prison before Beyoncé bails her out and the two go off to a restaurant where they poison the customers before making their getaway.

Lady GaGa makes fun of press rumours that she’s half and half during the opening scenes of the video. The video also flashes back to some of her previous work with Paper Gangsta playing in the courtyard and her Paparazzi mug shot shown towards the end.

The video features a lot of product placement including Lady GaGa’s Heartbeats, Virgin, HP, Plenty of Fish, Bebo, Coca Cola and LG incorporated in a humourous way. The Coca Cola placement is probably the most humourous as Lady GaGa wears cans of Diet Coke in her hair.

While the song is cut up, it doesn’t matter too much as it’s a little overrated. Telephone is definitely all about the video which is really quite amazing.
