Diana Vickers – “Once” Video Premiere

The video for Diana Vickers’ debut single Once premiered today. It’s not at all like what we would have expected it to look like. It’s a studio video as opposed to an outdoors one which would have been expected and more suiting. Although it looks quite cheap, it gets better as it goes along and the editing is really well done and sticks to the pace of the music. However, it doesn’t have any reflection on the lyrics of the song.

Each scene has a different costume change. The swing scene echoes her performance of Smile on The X Factor. The scene where Diana is singing into the microphone with her band is a little Blondie-esque. She also manages to get the infamous “claw” hand movement into the video. Diana looks her best in the scene with the mirror, the scene with the bed, the scene on the rug and the scene on the bathroom floor which all show a much more grown up Diana to the one we saw on The X Factor.

Once has been uploaded to YouTube which you can view below:

Once will be released on April 19th followed by the debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree which has been pushed back to May 3rd.

Ke$ha – “Blah, Blah, Blah” Video Premier

Ke$ha’s music video for her second international single Blah, Blah, Blah featuring 3OH!3 premiered today. The video, like TiK ToK, shows Ke$ha as a wild, party “animal” once again.

Blah, Blah, Blah is set in a bowling alley with shots of Ke$ha bowling, rolling around the bowling lanes, getting photos taken unsubtly with a Nokia phone, jumping around like Katy Perry in the middle of 3OH!3, tying a guy up, ripping a wig off a bald man’s head and flying up and down outside the building.

As an album track, Blah, Blah, Blah isn’t the song that stood out as being second single material but having seen the video, it is clear why it was chosen over the other (better) songs. To the general public it won’t sound like a rehash of TiK ToK and will give people the impression that Ke$ha isn’t just churning out the same song again (although they will come to realise this by the time singles three and four arrive).

3OH!3 are a bit out of place in both the video and the song and don’t add anything except looking awkward and irrelevant. The Starstrukk reconstruction scenes are completely unnecessary and the duo probably should have been cut from the song completely for the radio edit.

However, the video does its job which is to yet again showcase Ke$ha as a party girl while also being fun and showing off her rebellious personality.

Blah, Blah, Blah is set to be released on March 1st through RCA Records.

Muzic Junkie’s Sound Cloud account hadn’t been used properly yet so to start it off, I uploaded a mash up of two number 1 singles from 2009; I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas and My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson. They both fit quite well together.

Check it out:

I’ll post more of these mash ups when I make some.

“If We Ever Meet Again” Video Premier

The video for Timbaland’s second international single If We Ever Meet Again from Shock Value 2 featuring Katy Perry premiered today. The storyline is based on a museum burglary in which Timbaland and Katy play undercover detectives. The other shots in the video show Timbaland and Katy dancing around together to the track.

Surprisingly, they left in the interlude at the end of the video which probably should have been cut but seems to be there only to tie up the story.

Sugababes – “Wear My Kiss” Video Preview

The Sugababes new video for upcoming contingency single Wear My Kiss from their delayed album Sweet 7 was premiered previewed today. Although originally it was meant to premier in full today, team Sugababes couldn’t even get that much right.

The “preview” which is apparently unfinished, looks very low budget and a cross-between Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Heartbreak Make Me A Dancer and Kylie’s Love At First Sight, if the latter had no budget.

Not only does the entire background look cheap, the editing looks very poor and the video has no reflection on the lyrics of the song at all.

Wear My Kiss is scheduled for release on February 22nd through Island Records followed by the album Sweet 7 on March 5th but these dates could change again.
